Hello and welcome to the Maximize your Day podcast, a place for entrepreneurs for building their business, in pursuit of freedom and flexibility to do the things they love. I'm your host, jessica Rosario. I'm a New Yorker turned Floridian who knows a thing or two on how to effectively manage your time while juggling multiple priorities. I'm an ex-corporate leader who walked away from my nine-to-five-ish to launch and grow my business. Launch and grow my business. In this podcast, I share insights on mindset, business productivity, habits and strategies to help you take control of your to do list and maximize your day, which will help you feel more confident and less overwhelmed and getting more done in less time. I'm so excited you're here. Go ahead, listen in.
Speaker 1:What do you think most successful entrepreneurs and small business owners have in common? No, it's not experience and nope, it's not extraordinary skills and no, it's not even a powerful drive. Although all these things can definitely help you and your business grow, they're not a prerequisite for success. After all, no one is born with experience or skills and plenty of successful people lack the drive. The one thing they have in common is that they understand their why. Why do you spend so many hours in front of your computer, on your phone every week? Why do you stay up late and get up super early, just so you can work on your personal and professional growth as well as growing your business? Or how about those dream projects that you've been working on for some time that you know that you can only do at certain hours of the day?
Speaker 1:The why is what ultimately drives us to success, but here's the thing it's different for everyone. Your why is not my why, and my why is not your why. It's a deeply personal choice that can have great meaning or not right, depending on who we're talking about. So what is my why? You see, my why was the freedom and flexibility to be able to live my life on my own terms. My why was to be able to take off when I want to, to spend more time with my family and to walk in my purpose in order to do the things that I was called to do. And this is exactly why I created this podcast to be able to share my experiences with you as an entrepreneur, but also bring in some guest speakers. To be able to share my experiences with you as an entrepreneur, but also bring in some guest speakers that are able to share their heart and share their story with you People that are just like you how they've been able to overcome challenges and maximize their day so that they're able to spend their time doing the things that they love, just like you. But don't think for a minute. They haven't faced challenges and they haven't been overwhelmed. The point is, everyone has something to share and everyone can learn from someone else. So the purpose of this podcast is to be able to share those experiences, to help you maximize your day, keep you motivated and focused on doing the things that you love.
Speaker 1:Why? Well, you tell me what's your big? Why? It might be that freedom to travel, the option to spend time with your family, the ability to take weeks off at a time Trust me, I know how important that is. How about if you need to take care of a sick family member, or even to earn enough money to support a charity that's just so close to your heart? What is your why?
Speaker 1:I want to share an experience that I had with my coach about a year ago. I knew that morning that I woke up, that my mindset was just off, and, while I didn't meet with her until about 10 am, she also noticed that my mindset was off and she did an activity with me that she learned at a Dean Graciosi event where he talks about the seven levels deep. She asked me two simple questions. And what that did was it helped me bring it back to my why? It helped me bring it back to understand why it all started, why it's important to me, why it's important to my family. She reminded me that the things that happen, they happen for us, not to us, and I know it's kind of cliche what they say life is 20% of what happens and 80% on how you react to it. Trust me, a lot of times it's a lot more than that, but it truly made me realize the importance of knowing my why and holding onto it.
Speaker 1:And when you're starting to feel like you're not aligned with your goals, or when you're moving in a different direction but it doesn't align with your why, pause, take a moment, journal, think and ask yourself some questions Is this aligned with my why? You know I decided to share what those two questions were because they might be helpful to you. Now, if you're able to grab a pen and paper, go for it. Just pause this podcast right here and just grab it. If you're driving, just listen in, make a mental note and try to process this as you're listening to the questions.
Speaker 1:So there's only two questions. One of them is super simple what is it that you want to do? It could be different things for different people. We've talked about this before, that your why could be something different than somebody else's why. But what is it? What is it that you want to do? Do you want to become debt free? Do you want freedom, flexibility? Do you want to be able to travel more? Do you want to be able to get a bigger home for your family? Do you want to spend more time with your kids? What is it? What is it that you want to do? And the second question is super simple why is it important to you? So answer that question. You know what you want to do it's become debt free.
Speaker 1:So then, why is that important to you?
Speaker 1:What can that provide you and your family? What would that picture look like? Why do you think that the people that you love could benefit from this as well? And if you're not satisfied with the answer, dig deeper. Why is this important to you? Did you pick travel? Why is travel important to you? Did you pick travel? Why is travel important to you? Because you want to experience the world. Is it by yourself? Is it with your family? Visualize what does that look like and dig deeper.
Speaker 1:If you need to ask yourself this question, why? Go seven levels deep, like Dean Graciosi says, until you get to the bottom line and you realize that your why, your why should make you want to cry, and I promise you that your why won't let you sleep at night. Whatever it is that your why is, just know that it's the driving force behind every action that you take. And when you're deciding whether or not to take on a new task, ask yourself is this aligned with my why? When you're setting goals for the year, ask yourself are these goals moving you closer or further from your big why?
Speaker 1:Thinking about branching out into a new business venture, make sure it's in alignment with your why, and success is suddenly much more attainable. So what's your why?
