Hello and welcome to the Maximize your Day podcast, a place for entrepreneurs for building their business, in pursuit of freedom and flexibility to do the things they love. I'm your host, jessica Rosario. I'm a New Yorker turned Floridian who knows a thing or two on how to effectively manage your time while juggling multiple priorities. I'm an ex-corporate leader who walked away from my nine to five-ish to launch and grow my business. In this podcast, I share insights on mindset, business productivity, habits and strategies to help you take control of your to do list and maximize your day, which will help you feel more confident and less overwhelmed and getting more done in less time. I'm so excited you're here. Go ahead, listen in.
Speaker 1:I don't know about you, but I really love this time of the year. It just gives us the ability to pause for a moment and reflect on so many different things that we should be grateful for this year. And while I know that this year brought its own set of challenges, like don't even get me started, that would be a whole nother, probably 12 episodes but I'm really confident that it all happens for a reason or a season, right? And now those reasons can be different for different people, right, because we all live through life, and life comes with its own set of challenges. Live through life, and life comes with its own set of challenges, but the trials and the challenges that come our way really give us the ability to look at things differently, see what we can change for the better, of course, and then, most importantly, gives us reasons to be thankful and grateful, you know, and and really to pause to reflect upon that. Because, you know, one thing is to say yes, yes, I'm grateful, right, but another thing is to really pause and reflect on what is it that we're grateful for and why. So I decided to just kind of put together a couple of things that I'm grateful for. I mean, there's so many things that I'm grateful for, but the ones that I outlined, I figured maybe some of you can resonate with, and then perhaps you can even go ahead and share some of your things that you're grateful for, right, but this also gives you some insight into my world and some of the things that I've experienced this year as a woman, as an entrepreneur, as a business coach, right. So here it goes, here it goes.
Speaker 1:One of the things I'm grateful for is my health, my health and the health of my family and while we are all still getting through this COVID-19 pandemic, we just need to really take a moment to be grateful pandemic. We just need to really take a moment to be grateful, to be healthy and to be safe. And I want you to know that if you are someone or perhaps someone you know who has lost a loved one due to COVID-19, my heart really goes out to you and your family. I'm also grateful for family. I mean a lot of us, you know, have those crazy family members that sometimes you know enough is enough when you have a family gathering. But you know, at the end of the day, we are nothing without our families. And my family is so important to me. I mean my children, my siblings, and just so grateful to have them, you know, in my life and even understanding that sometimes you know they're not necessarily in your presence but just a quick phone call or a text or even FaceTime right, we're doing so many things now on video so that you can get to see their face that, even though you can't get that hug or that kiss or that you're yearning for, but you know that they're there for you, they're there at a moment's notice. So, so incredibly grateful for family. I'm also grateful for the ability to provide.
Speaker 1:I mean, 2020 really brought craziness into this world right, and a lot of people really started to look at jobs differently, and even the corporate space, how a lot of people started to work from home, and business will never be the same again, because this opened the eyes to so much opportunity and while some businesses lost revenue, there were others that doubled, tripled and who knows much more when it comes to revenue. When they realized that when their employees are working from home, it provides a different level of productivity and commitment, because not only are you focusing, of course, on your goals of your, of your company, but also you're focusing on results, right Um, to make sure that that. You know every business is here to make money, you know, so that you're able to have the revenue to sustain the business as you continue to move forward. But by giving employees the ability to work from home, it also told them you're important to me, your family is important to me, and I don't think that a lot of employers really did that before. So it definitely changed the way in which we are able to provide. Walking away from my corporate leadership in 2019, I can tell you it was one of the best things I ever did and even though I walked away with half of a plan, I was blessed to know that I didn't even need to leave my house in order to generate money. All I really needed was a computer and some wifi. So business really changed and I think it will continue to as the world continues to reopen and look at things differently for employees and how we do business in general.
Speaker 1:I'm also grateful for my journal. I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love journaling. This is something that you know. In one of those moments that I felt like the world was crumbling around me, my heart and my faith led me to journaling because there were things I needed to say that are not meant to be said to someone, and In my journal it really carried my pain. I've shared in the past that I've struggled with anxiety, so it carried my anxiety, my tears, but it also helped me visualize the life that I wanted. It helped me also outline my goals. What were some of the things that I can focus on as I continue to move forward and truly it's an intimate space for me to speak to the Lord. I am a woman of faith and as I continue to grow my spiritual health. Journaling has really tremendously helped me in understanding how to have that conversation with God so that he can show up when I least expect it, and I'm always so hopeful and expectant, right to know that I'm not in control and that he has the ultimate control. So journaling has been such an important change in my life in the past few years and I am so grateful to be journaling.
Speaker 1:I'm also thankful for my dog and if you're on some of my social media platforms, you might see pictures of my dog from time to time. But I absolutely adore her. Her name is Coco and she is an emotional support animal and she really truly shows her skills when you need her the most. She just loves to cuddle and loves, you know, to be pet and to you know, just basically she's living her best life when you really think about it. But I absolutely love my dog. I am so grateful for her and you know she's four years old, right, and to me she's still my puppy, but I'm hoping that you know she stays in our family for a very, very long time, because I just cannot picture life without her and lastly, her and lastly but not least, I'm so incredibly grateful to God. The reason is because without him, I am nothing, and I wouldn't be here today sharing my story unless I felt led to share it. And you know, sometimes the little me holds me back from putting myself out there and sharing with the world. But the big me, the Christ-centered me, the Christ-centered me, really helps me to share my experiences with people that need it. And if there's anything that we can take away from this life is the impact that we've made on others.
Speaker 1:So, as you continue to think about this gratefulness journey throughout Thanksgiving, take a moment to think about the skills that you have. Are you sharing them with someone or are you keeping them all to yourself? You sharing them with someone or are you keeping them all to yourself? Are are the rewards that you're seeking monetary and listen, there's nothing wrong with that. We're all in the same boat, right? No-transcript so that you can walk in your purpose and in your greatness. Now let's reflect on why we're grateful for these things, right? What's landing for you from all of the things that I mentioned? The ability to make choices on how I can and should live my life, and to be able to do that in my own terms, without the feeling of the golden handcuffs around my wrist, is such a rewarding experience.
Speaker 1:Now, I know that some of you work in a very stressful environment and you might not feel like you even have the opportunity to pause or reflect. What are you thinking, jessica? I don't have the life that you have. My job is very demanding. I'm being pulled in every direction. I completely get you. I've been there too, and I have those days too, even as an entrepreneur.
Speaker 1:Don't think it's all you know. Beautiful pink roses, okay, cause there's nothing like that. But take a moment to find gratitude in your day, and one of the things that has worked for me is creating reminders on my cell phone, asking me questions like what are some ways you can stay positive today? What is it that I can do today to help someone? Just look at ways to try to find the positive and the negative so that you're able to continue and pursue your greatness, because, remember, gratitude is the key to your greatness. But we need to take a moment to reflect why we're grateful. Reflect why we're grateful. So go ahead and dream big and think of some things that you're looking forward to, maybe in the upcoming season, in the upcoming year. Remember that gratitude is the key to your best self, so don't be afraid to step into your greatness, not only this week during Thanksgiving, but even beyond.
Speaker 1:Well, there you have it. I hope that this episode really helps you be grateful as we approach Thanksgiving 2021.
